ScotiaConnect Mobile for Business: Approve, Deposit and Monitor from iOS and Android
ScotiaConnect Mobile for Business is the companion app for Canadian commercial clients who need to approve wires, release EFT batches, deposit cheques by camera and monitor balances while away from the web portal. Biometric sign-in. Push alerts on configurable thresholds. WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility. Free on the App Store and Google Play.
This is not the personal Scotiabank mobile app. It is a dedicated commercial companion, authenticated with the same ScotiaConnect Customer Number and paired to the ScotiaConnect Token app on the same device or a separate hardware fob.

Mobile Capabilities at a Glance
- Approve and release — wires, EFT batches, bill payments, internal transfers.
- View balances — available, ledger, intraday across all accounts in scope.
- Deposit cheques — mobile capture with MICR read and duplicate detection.
- Receive alerts — push notifications on balance thresholds, pending approvals, login events.
- Biometric sign-in — Face ID, Touch ID, Android fingerprint and face unlock.
The app is engineered for the two dominant mobile scenarios in Canadian commercial banking: the approver who needs to sign off on a CAD $850K wire before the 16:30 ET Lynx cutoff while in a meeting across town, and the controller who needs to capture a cheque from a new customer before the next clearing window. Both scenarios complete in under 60 seconds with biometric sign-in and ScotiaConnect Token OTP.
Push alerts are configurable per user, per account and per event type. The CFO can be alerted on any debit above CAD $250K anywhere in the commercial estate. The AP clerk can be alerted only when an EFT batch she submitted changes state. The Super User can be alerted on any login from a new device fingerprint or unusual geolocation.

Mobile Cheque Capture
Deposit a cheque by photo — no branch visit.
The built-in cheque capture uses the device camera to photograph the front and back of a cheque. The app reads the MICR line, confirms the payee, validates the date and prevents duplicate submission. The Scotiabank Business Banking hold policy applies: the first CAD $1,500 is typically available next business day, with the remainder cleared after standard Payments Canada paper clearing windows.
Deposit limits are configurable: per cheque, per day, per user, per account. A small retailer might cap at CAD $5,000 per cheque and CAD $25,000 per day; a mid-market distributor operates at CAD $100,000 per cheque with no daily cap. The Super User sets limits in user management and adjusts as the relationship grows.
Biometric Sign-In and Offline Mode
Biometric sign-in replaces the password prompt after initial enrolment: Face ID and Touch ID on iOS, fingerprint and face unlock on Android. The ScotiaConnect Token OTP is still required to release a payment — biometrics speed the sign-in, not the approval. Users can disable biometrics at any time and fall back to password.
Offline read-only mode caches the most recent balance and activity snapshots so a controller travelling through a dead zone can still glance at positions. No payment actions are possible offline — an airline-mode approval is a fraud vector the app explicitly prohibits.
Accessibility: WCAG 2.2 AA
ScotiaConnect Mobile meets WCAG 2.2 AA across both platforms. VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android read every control with meaningful labels. Dynamic type scales the UI up to 200%, high-contrast mode flips colours for vision-impaired users, and reduce-motion disables all animated transitions. Accessibility issues can be reported to support@scotiaconnect.at — Scotiabank's accessibility programme publishes a public annual report.
